We have a friend who owns long horn cattle. I would not like to meet up with one of the horns on this bull. Our friend often leases our neighbor’s field and pastures his cattle next to our yard. We always enjoy the little calves and their mothers.
It’s hard to believe a creature this large can get into this position, just to scratch an itch or chase the flies away.
This calf had to come up to the fence to see what I was doing as I snapped his picture.
A 92 year old friend of mine sent this email to me the other day. I pretty well had heard the first part of this discussion on old age before, but the part about walking into a room and forgetting what you were there for was quite funny.
Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe. It has been suggested that much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full up, so too do humans take longer to access information. Researchers say this slowing down is not the same as cognitive decline.
The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more. Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature’s way of making older people do more exercise.
I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can’t remember their names. So please forward it to your friends, they may be my friends too.
Well, here is Frisky sitting on the shovel handle by the apple tree. He has been in my apple tree to check and see if the apples are ripe. He is a little apple thief every year.
Frisky has been out in the garden checking for strawberries and is returning to his big oak tree. Thief is his middle name. He is never satisfied with his daily ration of pecan nuts.
There is nothing that can match the innocence of a child.
When you venture onto the internet to find something clean, pure, or wholesome – what happens? Thrown in the decent, clean, innocent material you are looking for is Filth. Even pictures of children participating in nasty behavior that some adult has taught them.
If we as adults do not start now and return to the innocence of our youth – what kind of world are we creating for our children? Lets create that better world in which future generations can thrive and live moral, satisfying lives.
Jesus speaks to us in Mark 9:42 KJV – “And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.”
There is a busy highway that runs past the front of our property. Local bicycle clubs often come cruising past our house heading South. It is very interesting to watch the groups of bikers. It does often bother some of those in automobiles when the bikers cause them to have to slow down and dodge the bicycles.
I tried a close up of one of the bike riders and came up with nothing but this blurred image as he went past at a high rate of speed. (I captured motion – right?)
Late in the day you begin to see the lone biker who has not been able to keep up. Or perhaps he just chose to take his time and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
How bad would you feel if you were truly ill, suffering tremendously in this life and were being judged by those around you? What if people were suggesting you were just acting ill to acquire sympathy, that you really did not have a problem at all. That people were telling you that you could straighten up if you tried. I have been very ill several times in my life and have been treated exactly that way. I have read many blog posts of fellow bloggers lately and sorrow and concern have entered my heart. For those of you that have that serious medical problem that others make fun of because they cannot see that there is a problem, my compassion, understanding and love go out to you. I know how you feel.
If you are suffering and need that hug, that help, that understanding, surround yourself with those that know your worth. Seek out those that love you, know your life, know your ups and your downs, those that truly carry you in their heart.
As I looked out the kitchen window and the sun began to rise, this fantastic spider web appeared like magic. Without the sun striking the work this spider had done it would have been invisible.
On the other side of the apple tree the sun focused its light on another spider web that was facing the opposite direction.
The Blues (shown above), Coppers, and Hairstreaks butterflies are the smallest butterflies in North America. These butterflies are not just small but they are iridescent. They scarcely measure more than half an inch across. Getting close to these little butterflies causes them to take flight and when they do they fly erratically and are impossible (for me) to capture in a camera lens in the air. I had to back off, zoom in and capture these butterflies as they landed in our garden.
The Blue Butterfly below which has landed in the grass will show you just how small these butterflies are. They are found all over North American, up into Alaska and Canada. Their habitat is tidal marshes, fields, bogs, woodlands, and even deserts.
The following butterfly is the “American Beauty Butterfly” from the top and underside. It is very interesting how different in color and design they can be on each side of the wing.
