I spent several minutes this morning watching these 4 male Grackles as they entertained me with their high wire act, which reminded me of a symphony of birds.

Dare To Soar
“May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.” Tolkien
“You were made to soar, to crash to earth, then to rise and soar again.” Alfred Wainwright
The hawk in the first photo stopped in mid-air above my head – looking straight up I managed to take this photo before he began to soar away. The Red Tailed hawk below flew through the yard, scaring all the small birds and landed in the top of a cedar tree at the back of our 3 acres. Without my zoom lens I would not have captured this picture.
Winter Arrives
Cardinals in the Snow
Well, we threw bird food under the apple tree yesterday. Had one inch of snow last night that covered the bird food. The cardinals came in full force this morning. Landing in the snow and on the apple tree limbs. Looked as if most of them were just getting a mouth full of snow trying to find the seeds.
White Throated Sparrow
Luke 12:6-7 KJV Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Never forget just how important each of you is to God. He loves everyone and values every human life.
The Birds Are Watching!
I am getting a complex. When the buzzards start landing in the trees around your house – Do you need to dispose of the garbage or take a bath? These birds are watching us!
Robins Heading South
Every year in Arkansas you can count on the Robins to pass through on their winter flight South. This lets me know that winter weather will soon hit the New England states. Not far behind the Robins, you will see the Snow Geese migrating South. This year everything has been delayed by warmer than normal weather patterns. Yesterday, around a hundred Robins landed in my yard. These Robins normally hang around for a few days of rest before heading further South. Here are some photos of these red breasted beauties.
Nature Is A Splendid Sight
If this little bird can take time to sit and watch the sky, then why can’t I?
There is not much to photograph in dry Arkansas at the moment. Even the fall colors of the trees are not as glorious as they should be. So my little friend the fly-catcher came by and sat for quite some time so I could photograph him.
Some turkeys actually passed through the woods, I tried to captured them before they ran.
